Educational simulator · In learning phase

Meet Edgar.
Learn momentum by watching a paper bot think out loud.

BullAlert is a real-time momentum scanner. It fires live alerts on small-cap runners across pre-market, regular hours, and after-hours. Edgar is the learning layer on top: three session-locked paper bots that trade those same alerts with simulated capital — so you can study what a disciplined trader would do with the signals.

The alerts are real. The lessons are free. The point isn't to copy any trade — it's to understand the setup well enough to do your own DD and make your own decision.

Why Edgar exists

The BullAlert scanner already surfaces the runners — that's the real-time product. But "getting an alert" and "knowing what to do with it" are two very different skills. Most trading education is theory: books, videos, chat rooms. You memorize patterns and then freeze when they show up live. Edgar flips the model: the bot acts on the same alerts you see, with paper money, and logs every decision so you can study dozens of setups side-by-side and build pattern recognition the way professionals do — by reviewing tape.

Every Edgar trade answers four questions explicitly: Why did it enter? What stops did it use? Why did it exit? What would have changed the outcome?

We're currently validating Edgar against a naive baseline ("buy every S-tier alert") for 5–7 trading days before publishing the public leaderboard. Transparent, data-first, educational.

The diary is the product

Everything Edgar does is logged, timestamped, and explained. This isn't "here's a list of trades, figure it out" — it's a structured trade journal designed for learners.

Reason-in notes

Every entry shows which pattern fired (ORB, VWAP reclaim, gap-and-go, etc.), the score, the session, the RVOL bucket, and a plain-English paragraph on why this passed the filter.

Indicator snapshot at catch

RSI, VWAP distance, MACD, ATR, ADX — frozen at the moment Edgar pulled the trigger. You see exactly what the bot "knew" when it decided.

Stop-management log

Watch the stop move: initial (−8%) → breakeven at +3% → trailing 5% after +10% → time-stop at session close. Every stop update is logged with the trigger.

Reason-out notes

Every exit labels the cause (stop-loss, take-profit, trailing, time-stop) and explains in one line what the market did. Over 20+ trades, patterns emerge fast.

Three bots. Three sessions. One portfolio each.

Pre-market 4:00 – 9:30 AM ET

Edgar PM

Gap-and-go specialist. Filters for clean gap-ups with rising volume and refuses late catches near the pre-market peak. Exits flat by 9:30.

Regular hours 9:30 – 16:00 ET

Edgar RTH

Buy-on-catch workhorse. Enters S/A tier alerts on the next candle close, runs multi-stage stops (initial → breakeven → trailing), flat by 15:55.

After-hours 16:00 – 20:00 ET

Edgar AH

ORB variant tuned for the 16:00–16:15 after-hours opening range. AH breakouts sustain better than RTH — Edgar's specialty session.

How Edgar works

  1. 1

    Subscribe to live alerts

BullAlert's scanner fires S/A-tier momentum alerts across three sessions. Edgar reads every alert as it lands.

  2. 2

    Run the strategy gate

Each bot runs a session-specific strategy: premium filter for RTH, gap-and-go for PM, ORB for AH. Failing any gate = no entry.

  3. 3

    Size the paper position

Pro-style risk: ~10% of current balance per trade (roughly 0.5% account risk at a 5% stop). Max 5 concurrent positions so the fleet can survive a losing streak and still run hundreds of trades.

  4. 4

    Manage the exit

Multi-stage stops (−8% initial → breakeven at +3% → trailing 5% after +10%). Daily loss circuit breaker pauses the bot at −10%. Time-stop flat by session close.

  5. 5

    Publish the diary

Every entry and exit is logged with a written explanation — reason in, reason out, indicators at catch, hold time. Study the wins and the losses.

On the roadmap

Build your own Edgar

The next step: let subscribers spin up their own paper-trading simulator with custom rules. Pick your own entry filters (tier threshold, score floor, pattern allow-list), your own session coverage, your own stop structure, your own position sizing — then watch your custom Edgar trade live alerts with paper capital and a diary of its own.

It's the missing piece between "reading about momentum" and "trading real money". You test your ideas on paper, against the same live tape the scanner sees, with the same brutal honesty — a diary that shows every mistake.

We're building this next — see the full public roadmap for what's shipping soon, or start a trial to be first in line.
